Getting Fatter & Celiac Group

"Marriage makes you fatter", is the most common bit of wisdom that was given to me before Ben and I got married. I have to be honest - I thought it was an old wives tale. But of course I was proven horribly wrong. I have noticed that Ben and I both have gained weight, not a massive amount or anything, but just enough to notice. My mom keeps telling me that it is a good thing that I gained weight because she said that I looked too skinny for awhile. TOO SKINNY? I was at a weight that I was actually happy with, I didn't think I was TOO SKINNY. Anyway, Ben and I have both noticed and kept saying that we were gonna start walking again (when we were dating all we did was go for 1 hour long walks). But everytime I thought about walking it was too cold (like -35) or Ben didn't feel like it. So I took matters into my own hands, I (key word here is I) started going to aquacise! My friend and I decided to start going and have been doing it for 3 weeks now and to my amazement I love it! I don't think that we get as good of a workout as if we were going to the gym, but hey something is better than nothing and besides aquacise is a lot more fun, plus I don't hate going. The only problem is that it is only 2 days a week, so I am hoping to get Ben off of the couch and lane swimming with me the other nights, so wish me luck!

Celiac Group
After much encouragement, I decided to try and start a group for anybody who has or knows somebody with Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance. I booked a room at the library and put up flyers all around town, then told people I knew hoping that word would get around. I really didn't think that anybody would actually show up, so I asked my mom to come as well as my sister in-law, Juniper (who also has a problem with Gluten). So at 6:30 - me, mom, and Juniper headed to the library to set up and get ready for the meeting (which started at 7). We only had to wait a few minutes until someone showed up, then a few minutes later another 3 people, then right at 7 one more person. So we had a total of 8 people show up (including me, mom, and Juniper) and we had 2 people call and say that they really wanted to come but they couldn't make it that night. So once again life has proven me wrong....people are interested. As a group we all decided to keep these meetings going and are going to advertise a little more as we all know more celiac's in town. I am really excited about this cause I can't wait to swap recipes and most of to EAT.

It's great that you are getting out and aquasizing it. I loved doing it while I was pregnant. It was a great exercise. I do have to say that I thought it was a hard workout, and I had to take it a little easier than I was because I was getting too exhausted....maybe it was the extra weight.

Congratulations on the Celiac's group. That is great. It will be great for you to talk to other people experiencing the same thing, as well as getting those new recipies, which are always great.

Miss you lots. Can't wait to see you again.
